The United States recent decision to send planes with emergency supplies to North Korea, after flooding left 30 people dead and thousands homeless, is quite frankly, the dumbest thing that has been done in weeks following our country's latest devastation to the east coast during hurricane Irene. The U.S. government has their priorities totally backwards, sending nearly 1 million dollars in aid to a country that is still reportedly, continuing with their nuclear program. North Korea continues to break agreements with the United Nations to cease operation in their nuclear program, even testing missles near the South Korean border. They continue to show no signs of backing down. If they were to launch a nuclear warhead, it could possibly kill millions. It's like someone threatening you with a gun, then the next day giving that same person money, because they lose their job. That just doesn't make any sense. The United States government has been taking heat recently in regard to the amount of debt we have and instead of sending the aid to states battered with hurricane force winds and flooding, as well as tornado damage caused by Irene, which has caused 45 deaths and billions in damages, they choose to help a country that would stop at nothing to prove they are the leader in nuclear, biological, and chemical weaponry. Where is this country's priorities? One can only wonder what we will do if something more catastrophic happens here. I am not sure any other country has sent aid to the U.S. to help our relief efforts, but if the citizens of the United States had a say, there would be none of this happening right now.
